    I tried this on some salmon filets and was pleased with the results. I applied about 1/3 of a packet onto 2 filets that were lightly coated in olive oil and then air fried them at 350 for 20 minutes. Provided a nice savory flavor and the mild heat was not overpowering

    We purchase spices that come from single origin farms with organic and sustainable farming practices. We source from around the world, stocking the freshest and highest quality seeds and powders available.

Each packet has 10-15 different spices, that would be expensive to purchase individually, hard to store, and eventually get stale and collect dust in your spice drawer. One Packet, One Dish. No Waste!

    From seed to kitchen, we ensure every detail is given the attention it deserves. We grind, blend and hand-package our unique and treasured masalas ourselves in small bacthes and ship them fresh directly to you or to a store nearby.

About Us

Shireen and JD began their life adventure together in 2011 and their masala adventure in 2018.  They were driving home from visiting Shireen's family for the weekend, carrying food containers with all their favorite dishes: rogan josh, baked masala chicken, and spiced spinach.  moji, (Shireen’s mother) had lovingly spent the day grinding spices and cooking these mouthwatering meals.

How do I use the spices?

Flip to the back of each packet and scan the QR CODE or click the "recipes" tab on our website and select your packet name. We have simple and printable instructions for each dish as well as a short video that you can watch and pause as you cook, as needed.

Are the spice blends gluten-free, dairy-free and/or vegan? What about the cooked dishes?

Yes all the spices blends are vegan and gluten-free. The only ingredients in our blends are pure spices, most of which are whole spices that we grind into a powder. All the recipes that correspond to the packets are also gluten-free. All the vegetable, rice and lentil dishes are naturally vegan.

Most of the prepared dishes are dairy-free. The Rogan Josh Masala is marinated in yogurt. The Baingan Masala has an optional step to add yogurt at the end.

Do the packets contain salt?

Only 3 blends contain salt: Rogan Josh, Tandoori Chicken and Dahl Masala. Those blends need a perfect balance of salt for flavor. We use a mineral-rich Himalayan pink salt.

Rogan Josh: 4,400 mg/packet; 700-800 mg/serving

Tandoori Chicken: 4,400 mg/packet; 550 mg/thigh

Dahl: 2,200 mg/packet; 375-440 mg/serving

Are the blends very spicy?

The spice that would add heat to any blend is red chili powder. We use organic Kashmiri chili which is milder. Most blends are flavorful and finish with a bit of heat, either mild or moderate. Some packets have no chili powder at all. The top front of each packet indicates the heat level.

Can I use the spice blends to make other dishes on my own?

Yes! You should feel free to experiment. If you are not familiar with Indian spices, we suggest following our recipes first so you understand how to use them. The vegetable, rice and lentil blends are the most versatile. We also provide alternative dishes for most blends on our blog.
