How to Make Dahl with moji masala®

  1. Rinse 1 cup of lentils thoroughly and set aside. Dice one small onion and one ripe tomato, and chop 2 cloves of garlic.
  2. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and sauté for 3–4 minutes until softened and golden.
  3. Add the diced tomato and cook for another 2–3 minutes until it breaks down. Then add the entire moji masala® Dahl Masala packet and stir well to coat.
  4. Add the rinsed lentils and 3–5 cups of water (depending on lentil type and preferred consistency). Bring to a boil, then reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 25–30 minutes until lentils are soft and creamy.
  5. Stir in 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, taste, and adjust salt if needed. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with basmati rice.

Total cooking time: approximately 40 minutes.

Can I use any type of lentil?
Yes — red lentils, yellow lentils, and split mung beans all work well. Red lentils cook fastest and create the creamiest texture. Yellow lentils have a slightly nuttier flavour. Adjust your water and cook time slightly depending on which you choose.
